Ultrasound
Ultrasound uses sound waves to visualize organs, tendons, and muscles in real time. Non-invasive and radiation-free, it is ideal for soft-tissue diagnosis and pregnancy monitoring. It is a dynamic examination performed directly by our radiologists.
It allows for real-time visualization of numerous structures (abdomen, soft tissues, thyroid, muscles/tendons, and blood vessels via Doppler, as indicated).
There are no major contraindications.
A prescription is required to undergo this test.
- Abdominal ultrasound: Do not eat or drink for about 4 hours before the exam.
- Ultrasound of the kidneys and urinary tract: Make sure your bladder is full during the exam; drink 1 liter of water before the exam.
- Pelvic ultrasound: Make sure your bladder is full.
The radiologist applies a conductive gel to the skin and moves a probe to examine the organs on the screen.
